If you have questions about the planned underwater blasting next month in New Bedford Harbor, you would be wise to attend a public meeting Tuesday night at six at the Downtown Library.

Officials from the Mass. Clean Energy Center will be answering questions about the blasting program, which is scheduled to begin in mid-September.

The Center's Bill White tells WBSM  News, the controlled blasting will take place off the South Terminal area.  As for the impact on PCB's in that part of the harbor......

White says the blasting is needed to make the shipping channel deeper, to accomodate large ships carrying materials for the new Maritime Commerce Terminal and offshore wind turbines.

White adds, he's been working with 13 public agencies to insure the blastng program is carried out without a hitch.
