The fast food chain introduced a new mascot on Monday, May 19 for its Happy Meals. “Happy,” was first introduced in 2009 in France, and now he’s made it across the pond.

He was added to promote healthy eating with a new low-fat strawberry yogurt option in the kids’ meals. Unfortunately, so far he has not been well received by customers.

Happy is essentially a Happy Meal box with legs, arms, big white teeth, and eerie eyes. Some Twitter responses circle around comments such as “a McStake,” and “the meal that eats you.”

He is here to stay though, so I guess we’ll have to give him a chance and see how he does.

In a funny turn, McDonald's execs prove that they have a great sense of humor regarding the public's reaction to 'Happy.'
