A 20-year-old Hanson man died early Friday after his car was struck by a freight train. The Brockton Enterprise is reporting that a car driven by Kyle Champignie of Hanson was struck by a CSX Corporation freight train on the tracks near Oak Street in Bridgewater.

The crash occurred between the Bridgewater and Campello stops on the Middleboro line, sometime before 3 a.m. Friday. According to investigators, the man made a right turn off Oak Street onto the tracks, and was stopped there at the time of the crash. He was unconscious when help arrived and needed the Jaws of Life to be removed from the vehicle.

Champignie went into traumatic arrest at the scene and was transported by ambulance to Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
