The multi-award-winning musical "Hairspray" is set to open Little Theatre of Fall River's 82nd season at Bristol Community College on Thursday, Oct 13.

According to South Coast Today.com, the show runs thru Sunday, Oct 16 and is a musical set in the 1960s with strong social commentary on the injustices that existed in American society and led to the Civil Rights Movement.

“Hairspray” won eight Tony Awards, including one for Best Musical and Best Lead Actor. It ran for more than 2,500 performances and has celebrated national and international tours.

The show’s cast features Holly Cardoza, Ryan Durkay, Marsha Furtado, Jonathan Keene, Jay Nova and Jacob Zentis, with Emily Buckley as Tracy Turnblad.

“In addition to Arruda, the creative team includes musical director Bobby Perry; choreographers Tricia Rodrigues, Nina Calvo and Raylin Medina; set and costume designers Aaron Gendreau-Visco; and stage manager Cecily Arruda.”

The show will take place at Bristol Community College's Jackson Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, while the Sunday matinee is at 2 p.m. Tickets for adults are $25 with discounts available for seniors, students, and groups of 20 or more.

Also, student rush tickets will be available for $10 a half-hour before the production on opening night.
