While the New England Patriots started their mandatory minicamp practices today, one notable star was missing in action; Rob Gronkowski. At first, there was some confusion as to whether Gronk was at the team facility, though later reports claimed that the All-Pro tight end did report with his fellow teammates, earlier today.

According to ESPN Patriots Insider Mike Reiss, the 27-year-old is dealing "with an undisclosed physical ailment" and the team has chosen to move him along slowly.

Instead of taking the field with the rest of his team, Gronk did some behind-the-scenes work.

Reiss also mentioned that the seventh year pro was also not seen the last time the team had a practice open to the media, though he has been around all offseason, for team workouts.

The team has been careful with Gronkowski in recent years, as he has battled a number of different injuries over the years.

The tight end was one of 13 Patriots players who were not out on the field today.
