The Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development has released last month's local unemployment numbers for labor markets across the state, showing Greater New Bedford's workforce diminished, climbing from 9.4% in June to 9.9% in July.

The Greater New Bedford labor market maintains the second highest rate of unemployment in the state, second to the Lawrence-Methuen market at 10.8%. The Massachusetts unemployment rate rose from 6.3% in June to 6.6% in July.
