A proposed expansion project at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School got the green light from the City Council's Finance Committee Wednesday. The 17.1 million dollar project will add cafeteria space, fifteen new classrooms and replace part of the school's aging air cleaning system. Superintendent Linda Enos says the project received the most funding it could from the state School Building Authority.

New Bedford is expected to contribute 3-point-4 million dollars towards the addition, with the other member communities of Dartmouth and Fairhaven alotting about 500-thousand dollars each. Both towns have about two months to hold their votes on the project, and allow it to move forward. Dartmouth Town Meeting will vote on the funding next Tuesday, while Fairhaven has yet to set a meeting date for their vote.
