Grand Jury Indicts Father Accused of Fatally Shooting Daughter in New Bedford

The man accused of fatally shooting his daughter in the parking lot of her New Bedford apartment building has been indicted by a grand jury.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says the grand jury returned three indictments against 45-year-old Walter DaSilva Friday, charging him in Superior Court with murder, carrying an illegal firearm, and unlawful possession of a loaded firearm. A Superior Court arraignment date has yet to be scheduled.

DaSilva is being held without bail following his arraignment in New Bedford District Court last month. Prosecutors allege DaSilva shot his daughter, 19-year-old Sabrina DaSilva, several times on the night of July 3 outside of the Verdean Gardens on Bedford Street.
