It's been four weeks since Governor Patrick last made a public appearance in the state, but today marks the end of his absence.

The governor will do some political work today, appearing with a candidate for an open State House seat. Later today, he will speak to the press at the Old South Meeting House in Boston before joining in the bell ringing to commemorate Martin Luther King Jrs "I Have a Dream " speech.

The governor's office says he took some time to "recharge" in August while keeping up with his duties, including signing several bills into law.
