New Bedford City Councilor Brian Gomes appeared on the Phil Paleologos Morning Show Wednesday promising to file a motion for the City Council to support Governor Baker's proposing to make drug dealers whose distribution leads to the death of a customer, subject to prosecution for "manslaughter," and further that our State Delegation support support Governor Baker's proposal in targeting narcotics dealers.

In other words, dealers who provide illegal drugs that lead to death would see an increase in penalties under a bill proposed by Gov. Charlie Baker and backed by local law enforcement officials, people like me!

This legislation would also provide a penalty of up to life in prison and, like the offense of manslaughter while driving drunk, would also require a mandatory minimum sentence of at least five years.

I support Councilor Gomes' efforts 100%.
