Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School has issued a statement regarding the death of George Heath.

Heath, 56, was stabbed and killed at the Silver City Galleria Mall in Taunton Tuesday night.

Superintendent-Director James O'Brien issued a statement on Wednesday calling Heath a "tremendous educator with a great passion for teaching."

O'Brien said Heath had been working at the school for the past four years as a visual design teacher.

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell also issued a statement expressing his condolences to the victims and calling Heath a "great teacher who was beloved by his students."

Heath's wife, Rosemary, posted a statement on her Facebook page saying that Heath was stabbed and killed as he tried to fight the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Arthur DaRosa of Taunton.

The other murdered victim has been identified as an 80-year-old woman from Taunton who was stabbed and killed in her Myrick St. home.

The woman's daughter was also injured in the attack
