On Friday, July 6 at 10 a.m., the Millicent Library invites children to participate in a patriotic Movement and Marching class as a part of Independence Day Week.

The library welcomes back its favorite dance teacher, Kay Hanley Alden, for one session that is beneficial for balance, sports, and confidence-building. The class is designed for children ages three and up. Children will use flags, streamers and instruments to celebrate.

Kay Alden earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Bridgewater State College and has been a “Life Dancer” and choreographer for many years. She remains active on the Alumni Board of the Boston Conservatory, where she taught tap dancing. She has traveled throughout Europe and Asia studying and taking part in dance exchange programs as well as teaching in the United States, Canada, and wherever dance took her.

Kay enjoys giving free programs and loves sharing her excitement, enthusiasm and energy with children. Her love of music, movement and dance combine to get children inspired to move and learn, both physically and intellectually.

The program will be held in the downstairs auditorium on the Walnut Street side of the library, which is handicapped accessible. For further information, call Youth Services Librarian Jane Murphy at (508) 992-5342 or email at jmurphy@sailsinc.org.

'Around Town With Phil' is brought to you as a public service by Flagship Insurance.
