The Massachusetts Gaming Commission discussed the current situation regarding a gaming license for the Southeastern region of the state.

Most of the discussion centered on the possibility that Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe could take land in trust for a Taunton casino.

The Commission had been debating if they should hold off on awarding a commercial casino license until the issue was decided by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

However, Commission consultant Guy Michael said it is uncertain how long that process could take.

The commission recently gave a 45-day extension for applicants that wish to build a casino in the region known as Region C.
