State gambling regulators preparing to award the lucrative Boston-area casino license say Wynn Resorts shows a far stronger balance sheet in support of its $1.6 billion casino in Everett while Mohegan Sun has submitted a stronger overall design for its proposed $1.1 billion casino in Revere.

The assessments comparing each project's finances and design were released Monday as the Massachusetts Gaming Commission kicked off at least a week of deliberations on Boston-area license.

On Tuesday, the panel will review each project's economic development potential, their compensation agreements with area cities and towns, and traffic impacts.

The commission may pick the license winner as soon as Friday.

The deliberations come as November voters will decide whether to repeal the state's casino law altogether, halting the licensing process.
