The assault case of State  Representaive Chris Markey against David Oliveira has taken another turn.

According to Dartmouth Police Chief Timothy Lee, the  case  has been sent to a regional judge in Brockton for assignment. The action was taken because of Markey's relationship with New Bedford District Court as a former Bristol County prosecutor.  Markey called Dartmouth Police Thursday requesting a clerk-magistrate's hearing.  Chief Lee says they have forwarded it to the court. Oliveira's attorney, Frank Camera, says his client "regrets" what happened and wishes Markey a speedy recovery although  he stopped short of admitting guilt.
