Freetown voters overwhelmingly approved a debt exclusion Monday which will fund a technology upgrade for the Freetown-Lakeville school district.  The vote was 424 in favor  and 172 opposed with an 11 percent turnout. The district was able to refinance a bond related to construction work at Apponequet Regional High School and the Austin Intermediate School, saving taxpayers $4.3 million overall and making it possible to finance the technology project without increasing residents' taxes.

The town of Lakeville approved the measure earlier this month, leaving the Freetown voters as the final hurdle in moving forward with the project. Work on installation of the new technology infrastructure will begin immediately.
