Freetown plans to name a new traffic circle in town in honor of a local navy petty officer who died in Iraq. Town officials expect to hold a ceremony sometime next spring to dedicate the County Road Roundabout to Petty Officer 2nd class Tyler Trahan. The name change has been approved by the State Legislature.

Trahan was killed in combat operations in Fallujah in April 2009, just two days before his 23rd birthday. Board of Selectmen Chairman Jean Fox says the town plans to coordinate with the Trahan family and the Navy to come up with a suitable date for the ``Fitting Tribute.'' Trahan's father, Jean-Pierre, previously expressed his appreciation of the efforts.
