A house fire Friday night in the Assonet section of Freetown caused extensive damage to the basement and first and second floors of the structure.

Fire crews responded shortly before 8pm to 4 Dana Lee Drive. A spokesman says firefighters spent more than two hours at the scene battling smoke and flames. There were no injuries reported.

He said the house had caught fire last month and the occupants are living in a trailer next door while renovations are ongoing. The cause remains under investigation.

The Berkley Fire Department and Dartmouth District Three provided mutual aid support.
