FREETOWN —Crews from multiple fire departments battled a fully involved structure fire in Assonet Tuesday night.

At approximately 6:24 p.m., the homeowner at 95 Slab Bridge Road in Assonet called 911 to report the fire. According to a Freetown Police Facebook post, first responders arrived to find the 1.5-story residence completely engulfed in flames.

Berkley, Dartmouth, Lakeville, Rochester and Raynham Fire Departments also provided fire engines and manpower to fight the fire.

Although the home was unoccupied, it was believed that pets were still in the home. Freetown Animal Control and Freetown State Forest Rangers assisted with the animals, police said.
