The U.S. Coast Guard has rescued four lobstermen whose boat sank off Block Island.

Authorities say the 60-foot boat began taking on water early Thursday, about 40 miles south of Block Island. A helicopter rescue crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod and the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Chinook responded shortly after 4 a.m.

The Coast Guard says the lobsterman were in the water, wearing survival suits when the helicopter arrived. They were rescued by the aircrew around 7 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

The boat was from Sakonnet, Rhode Island. It sank in about 250 feet of water.

The weather at the time of the incident was reported as 35 mph winds and 6-foot seas. The water temperature was 64 degrees.
