Former Zeiterion Director Honored

The ousted director of the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center still has plenty of support in the Greater New Bedford community. 

Dozens of people turned out Thursday night at the Fairfield Inn Downtown to thank Katherine Knowles for her nine years of work at the "Z."  One of them was New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell.....

Katherine Knowles says having the community say "thank you" was something very important to her.  As for her future, Knowles tells WBSM News, she has nothing in the works right now....

Among the speakers at the event was former Mayor Scott Lang who said the Board of Trustees' decision to eliminate Knowles' job was a mistake. 

Others praised Knowles for working with area schools to introduce young students to the arts, and her efforts to open the Zeiterion to all ethnic groups.
