Former Red Sox slugger George "Boomer" Scott is dead at the age of 69. He passed away in his native Mississippi. Scott spent nine of his 14 seasons with Boston over two different stints. He was the first baseman on the 1967 Red Sox Impossible Dream team that played in the World Series vs. St. Louis. He won eight Gold Gloves at first base and hit 271 career home runs.

Scott also played for the Brewers, Royals and Yankees.
