Former Mousketeer, Disney Icon, Annette Funicello Dead at 70
An iconic figure in Disney history has passed away. Annette Funicello, a famous Mousketeer of the 1950s has died.
According to reports, Funicello died from complications from Multiple Sclerosis, and had been in a coma for years. Funicello was 70-years-old.
Annette gained fame as part of the Mickey Mouse Club in the 50s, and that fame carried over to the 1960s when she and Frankie Avalon did their various ‘Beach Party’ movies. She had a long career not only as an actress, but also as a singer.
In 1992 Funicello announced that she was suffering from Multiple Sclerosis, a condition she had kept hidden for years. She had three children with her first husband Jack Gilardi, and was married to her second husband Glen Holt from 1985, until her death in 2013.
