Four employees were fired from Coelho Middle School in Attleboro after denying students lunch because their meal plans ran low.

According to reports, the workers were fired because there is a zero tolerance policy for letting a child go hungry in Massachusetts. School officials say that when the students reached the check out line, they were told to throw their lunches away because their prepaid plans wouldn't cover the cost.

A spokesperson for the company who provides food service to the school said that the company, Whitsons Culinary Group, will provide free lunches to all students at Coelho Middle School for three days next week, and host a barbecue for students and families of the school.
