Acushnet Man Killed In Florida Crash

A wrong way car accident on U S 41 in Sarasota Florida early Saturday morning claims the life of an Acushnet man. Sarasota Police Dept. spokseperson Genvieve Judge tells the Sarasota Herald News that a car being driven by 28 year old  Kurt Rudd crashed into a taxi cab as he was driving south in the northbound lane.

Jimmy Elias of Acushnet, a passenger in the cab, was killed and the 4 other passengers and the cab driver were taken to the hospital suffering multiple injuries.

Rudd, who was operating without a license,  was taken into custody after trying to flee the scene. He faced numerous charges in court . Bail was set at 20 thousand dollars and his next court date is June 20th.
