We all know that this year the Flu has been worse than ever.  Thousands of cases across the state, people suffering for day's with it.

Avoiding people that are sick is one of the best ways to keep yourself from getting it, other things like washing your hands often and keeping them away from your face is a sure way of helping to keep from getting sick. Here are five other way's to keep from getting the flu.

5) Try brewer's yeast, apparently sprinkling a teaspoon of the yeast on your food every day can boost your immune system.  It  may not taste good but then again most stuff that is good for you doesn't taste that great anyway!

4) Use a nasal spray or neti pot, I have the spray and I think it really helps.  The neti pot or spray is used to clean out your sinus cavity.  It feels a little odd when you first use the pot or spray but once you use it you get used to it.

3)Drink hot tea with honey and lemon, drinking hot drinks stimulate digestion, ease cold and flu symptoms, and give your immune system an extra kick, honey has such strong antimicrobial properties it's been shown to reduce risk of flu infection, and lemon adds Vitamin C and antioxidants.

2) Gargle with warm salt water.  If you gargle with the warm salt water a few times a day, you are one-third less likely to catch colds. Salt and warm water once you're already sick helps clear the virus out of your throat.

1) Practice "respiratory etiquette."  Hospitals and other professional healthcare facilities use the catchphrase a lot these days.  It's an updated version of the old common sense rules.  Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with warm water and soap, especially before eating, plus cold and flu germs can live out side the body for hours, so do not share anything, even towels with someone who is sick.

If you do get sick, try these methods of feeling better they will help. Also, if you are sick, stay home!  If you go to work or school sick, your co-workers or classmates will not be to happy with you if they end up getting sick because of you!

Stay healty my friends!
