Five Arrested for Prostitution in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD — Five people were arrested Wednesday night in a prostitution investigation in New Bedford.

New Bedford Police detectives were conducting an investigation Wednesday night targeting prostitution in the North End in response to community complaints.

The following arrests were made in the areas of Holly Street, Davis Street, Nash Road and Belleville Avenue as a result of the investigation.

--Kerri Souza, 48, 50 New Plainville Road Apt. E28, New Bedford

--Lawrence Harney, 57, 52 Maple St., New Bedford

--April Star Daniels, 47, 1061 County St. Apt. 1, New Bedford

--Desiree Defreitas, 47, 910 Stratford St., New Bedford

--Anisha Ortiz, 40, 60 Deane St. Apt. 1N, New Bedford

All were charged with sexual conduct for a fee.
