A fisherman with ties to New Bedford has died after falling overboard.

According to the Martha's Vineyard Times, Luke Gurney, owner of the 42-foot fishing boat "No Regrets", was fishing with another man off of Nantucket Monday morning when he became entangled in some fishing gear and was pulled overboard.

Gurney's body was found after a four-hour search involving several agencies, including the Coast Guard.

Gurney spent his early years in New Bedford, with several childhood friends posting condolences on social media, recalling playing hockey with Gurney.

Gurney was a husband and father of two. He played and coached hockey on Martha's Vineyard.
