BOSTON (AP) _ The Coast Guard says a fisherman was medically evacuated after he fell overboard about two miles off the coast of Provincetown.

The Coast Guard said it responded with the Provincetown Fire Department Saturday morning.

It says the captain of the scallop boat Glutton notified the Coast Guard at about 7:15 a.m. that one of his crew members had fallen overboard and was entangled in fishing gear.

The 24-year-old fisherman freed himself, resurfaced and was recovered by the Glutton crew.

He was transferred to a Coast Guard boat, which was met by a helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod. The aircrew transported the fisherman to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis for further care.

The fisherman was conscious and in stable condition.
