Fisheries Panel Puts Off Vote On Groundfish Cuts

The New England Fisheries Management Council has delayed a vote on reducing the catch limits for groundfish like cod and haddock in New England. The cuts were estimated at anywhere from 40 to 90%. Speculating on why the vote was delayed, Kendall says perhaps the council members are waiting for more scientific information. He adds, the meeting was attended by 150 angry fishermen, so that may have moved the council to take a “go slow” approach.
