A fish-processing plant is calling it quits in New Bedford.

According to bizjournal.com, High Liner Foods, Inc., on Herman Melville Boulevard will begin cutting the 200 jobs housed there in late April, with the plant closing in September.

In a letter dated February 17 to the state and Mayor Jon Mitchell, the Canadian frozen seafood company cited "excess capacity across its North American production network" as the reason for the closing.

High Liner also operates a scallop processing plant in the city that will remain open.
