First New Bedford Casino Forum Being Held Thursday Night

Thursday night welcomes the first of several public forums regarding a New Bedford casino proposal. Representatives from KG Urban Enterprises will present their plans for a waterfront casino at the Cannon Street Power Station.

Speaking on his weekly radio program, Mayor Jon Mitchell says though many details have already been ironed out, there are still ideas the public can offer up. "I want this to be a community process. I want people's best ideas on this so that we can all have a comfort level with how this development can spur more economic development, how it can create jobs, and really help the city's overall quality of life," Mitchell said.

Mitchell says residents will be able to ask questions of the developers.

The forum is being held at Roosevelt Middle School in the South End at 6pm.
