NEW BEDFORD - No injuries reported after a fire in a South End home today.

The fire was reported around noon on the first floor of 90 South Street, a three family home.

New Bedford District Fire Chief Scott Kruger says the fire was extinguished within five minutes of arrival of fire crews. "They had heavy fire on the first floor front of the apartment. They gained entry and we were able to knock down the fire. We had crews go to the second and third floor to make sure that we didn't have any extension of fire from the first floor, which we didn't," said Kruger.

All of the tenants and their pets made it out safely.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the ignition source may have been a television that was placed on a portable heater. District Chief Kruger estimates the damage at around $10,000.
