A single story ranch home in Buzzards Bay is considered a total loss following an early Thursday morning fire.

Bourne Deputy Fire Chief Paul Weeks tells WBSM News the fire at 30 Center Ave. was reported around 5:30 a.m. and he says when crews arrived they found the fire well underway.

"Upon arrival we found a structure, single story ranch...50 percent fire involvement," says Weeks "we went strictly to defensive operations on arrival due to the extent of the fire."

Weeks says they had the fire under control in approximately one hour and he says it was roughly three hours before all units were returned to service.

Neighbors told fire officials the building had been unoccupied for some time and no injuries were reported.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Fire Department's Investigator Gil Taylor and the Bourne Police Department.
