The Red Cross is assisting residents of a Fairhaven home following a fire on Saturday night.

Firefighter Wayne Oliveira says two engines and a Ladder were sent to 68 Weeden Rd. around 9:30 p.m. after receiving a 9-1-1 call.

Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from a window on the second floor.

Crews were able to put down the fire in 30 minutes but the home sustained substantial smoke and water damage.

Oliveira says the fire was accidentally caused by one of the residents who was refilling a Zippo lighter and was unable to put out the flames.

The residence's four occupants were home at the time of the fire but no injuries to either them or the responding firefighters were reported.

Damage to the home is estimated at $50,000.
