Fentanyl Distribution Service Broken Up by New Bedford Police

NEW BEDFORD - Another arrest after police find the lethal drug Fentanyl in a New Bedford man's home.

Police, conducting an investigation into a Fentanyl distribution service, searched the Cedar Street apartment of 26-year-old Effrain Vargas on a warrant Thursday, finding three bags of Fentanyl weighing 17.3 grams. Police also found packaging materials, a digital scale, and $3,476 in cash.

Vargas is charged with trafficking in more than ten grams of Fentanyl. He faces arraignment today in New Bedford District Court.
