The U.S. Department of Energy has announced it will be building gasoline reserves in the New York City Harbor region and Boston..

The reserves would hold a combined one-million barrels in gasoline to provide short-term relief following disasters like Hurricane Sandy. There was a severe gas shortage in the New York City region following the super storm.

Energy Secretary and Fall river native Ernest Moniz says the reserves are a step toward from the President's climate action plan to better prepare for the effects of climate change. (Metro Networks, Inc)
