$800,000 in cash and four Rolex watches were found Thursday by federal agents in safe deposit boxes controlled by convicted Dartmouth farmer and former state lawmaker John George Jr.

According to Wicked Local.com, this brings the total of George’s stashed cash to nearly $2.3 million. The value of the luxury watches and the jewelry has not yet been determined, but the total of cash and valuables seized is more than $2.5 million.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service and Internal Revenue Service discovered the cash and valuables hiding in three newly discovered deposit boxes at the Rockland Trust in Fairhaven.

“George was convicted of federal conspiracy and embezzlement charges in April, for embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars over several years from the Southeastern Regional Transit Authority (SRTA), a publicly funded bus company. He was sentenced in July and began serving a 70-month prison term in September, at FMC Devens in Ayer.”
