Fairhaven Man Arrested After Raids at Home and Massage Parlors
FAIRHAVEN - A Fairhaven man is arrested on a human trafficking charge.
Fairhaven Police say Mark Clinton, 49, was arrested Thursday after officers from Fairhaven, along with Massachusetts State Police, executed search warrants at his home at 15 Shirley Street, Unit 2, in Fairhaven and the Ancient Chinese Wellness Center at 39 Alden Road. Clinton owns the wellness center.
Search warrants were also executed at 71 Route 6A, Suite 3, in Sandwich and 460 Waquoit Highway in East Falmouth. Police say Clinton owned Chinese Wellness Centers at those locations, as well.
The addresses were listed in ads on Craigslist that offered "Asian bodywork, Acupressure and Reflexology." The ads further stated "Just Opened. 2 New Woman From China. Ancient Chinese Wellness. Are you tired of taking pills for your pains. Muscles hurt? Come relax, try the Chinese way of healing."
Clinton was charged on the warrant based out of Falmouth at the Fairhaven Police Department. He was arraigned Friday in Third District Court in New Bedford, and ordered held on $50,000 bail with bracelet GPS monitoring if released.
Sandwich, Falmouth, and Fairhaven Police, along with troopers from the Massachusetts State Police High Risk Victims Unit and a Special Agent from the FBI assisted in the execution of the search warrants Thursday.
