Authorities say two people are dead after a shooting and roughly three-hour standoff in Swansea.

Update 11:45am -  Authorities say two people are dead in Swansea in an apparent murder-suicide sparked by a dispute over money. Swansea police responded to reports of shots fired outside a home on Stephen French Road at about 6 p.m. on Sunday.

They found 37-year-old Mitchell Stevenson of Tiverton, R.I. dead inside a car.

Witnesses said just seconds after the person who shot Stevenson went inside his home, a single gunshot was heard. Police later found 43-year-old Christian Wilson dead in the house of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Bristol district attorney's office says an argument ensued when Stevenson went to Wilson's home to collect a debt.

Swansea police responded to reports of shots fired at about 6 p.m. on Sunday. They found one person dead inside a car. Witnesses told police that the shooter had run into a nearby house. Shortly after the person ran into the home, people reported hearing a single gunshot.

Local police with the help of state troopers secured the area, and at about 9 p.m. police entered the home shielded by a robot and found one person dead of an apparent gunshot wound. No one else was in the home. No names and no motive were immediately released as the situation remains under investigation.
