Update:  One woman was killed and another was injured in a one-car crash this morning on Route 18 northbound, near the Elm Street intersection in New Bedford.  A spokesman for the Bristol County District Attorney says the crash happened just before 7am.

The operator of the Jeep Cherokee Sport, 19 year old Paige Lame' of New Bedford told investigators she was heading north on Route 18  when she swerved to avoid some ice and snow on the road, and the vehicle rolled over.  Police say Lame' was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.  She was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and later released.

Killed was a passenger in the back seat, 22 year old Therese Jean Suprenant of New Bedford.  According to Police, she was not wearing her seatbelt.   Lame' told police she and her passenger were on their way to work at Kyler's Seafood.

A spokesman for the District Attorney's Office, Greg Miliote, says the crash is still under investigation, but he said based on what investigators know now, it appears the crash was tragic accident.
