Despite the finger and toe numbing temperatures Tuesday, Fenway Park was the venue for an outdoor hockey game played in honor of fallen Fairhaven Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew Rodriguez and Sgt. Daniel Vasselian of Abington. The hockey game was organized by veterans of the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes Fund as a tribute for their sacrifice. Both families had members on hand to witness the the event from the stands. Daniel Vasselian's widow, Erin, dropped the puck. WCVB-TV 5 Boston reported that Daniel's father, Mark Vasselian told reporters, "My heart's broken, but my heart's filled with pride to be an American and what our sons and daughters have fought for." Matthew Roderiguez's brother Adam said, "I'm glad I'm here because I know Matt loved hockey, and so did Danny." The Executive Director of the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes Fund, Dan Magoon, said, "We play in their honor, for both the Vasselian and Roderiguez family."
