UPDATE (2:28 p.m.): Fall River Police spokesman Det. John Robinson has issued the following statement: "At approximately 6:00 am this morning the Fall River Police Department responded to a hit and run motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Courtney Street involving a truck and motorcycle. The motorcyclist was transported to R.I. Hospital.  The crash is currently under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police CPAC unit and the Bristol County District Attorneys Office."

FALL RIVER — Fall River Police are investigating a serious car crash Thursday morning.

The crash took place at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Courtney Street at around 6 a.m.. A male driver in the crash was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with unknown injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.

Scanner reports indicate that Fall River and area police departments were searching for a vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run in the city this morning, though police have not confirmed nor denied those reports.

The accident is under investigation.
