FALL RIVER — Fall River Police have captured one of two suspects in an alleged armed home invasion.

Thursday, January 24th at approximately 4 p.m., Officers David Gouveia and Thomas Roberts of the Fall River Police Departments Uniform Division responded to a Kellogg Street address, in response to a possible home invasion complaint.

On arrival, they spoke to the complainant, who stated she heard a knock on her exterior door. When she went to answer it, two males forced their way into her apartment. One male held a gun to her head and demanded to know where she kept all her money. The other male looked around the residence. The males forced her into a bedroom, where she pointed to a bureau. One male located cash while the other took jewelry. Both males tied her up, and then fled the residence.

The victim described the assailant with the gun as being male, about five-foot-six, wearing a black hoodie, black jeans, black 'Air Max' sneakers and black gloves. She described the other male as about five-foot-six, wearing a black hoodie, blue Dickies-style pants, brown boots and gloves.

While processing the scene and collecting evidence, an identification card was found that did not belong to the victim. This was traced to an apartment on Tecumseh Street, where police located 26-year-old Jonathan J. Aponte. Aponte gave conflicting statements for his whereabouts, and as police attempted to verify his statements, Aponte changed his explanation. Located on the kitchen table were a black pair of gloves and a winter knit hat.

Aponte was taken into custody on charges of armed burglary, possession of a firearm without a license, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and vandalizing property. Located in his pocket was $140 in cash.

This incident is under investigation and anyone with further information is urged to contact Officer David Gouveia of the Fall River Police Department's Uniform Division at dgouveia@frpd.org or (508) 676-8511 Ext. 115, or call the FRPD anonymous tips line at (508) 672-TIPS(8477).
