The Fall River Police Department’s Vice and Intelligence Unit arrested 35-year-old, Leo Lane, of 71 East Main Street in Fall River, after executing a search warrant Monday on his third-floor apartment.

According to The Herald News, “detectives found one small bag of crack cocaine, along with two digital scales, $555 cash and alleged packaging materials.” According to Detective Luis Duarte’s report, “Lane told the police that their “timing was bad,” allegedly saying that they would have caught him with more drugs if they had searched the apartment later this week.”

However, that did not stop police from arresting Lane. He was charged with possession to distribute a Class B drug. Police stated that Lane tried to shut the apartment door in the detectives’ faces and attempted to run away before he was taken to the ground and handcuffed.

Lane was ordered to be held on $1,000 cash bail after being arraigned Tuesday in Fall River District Court. Documents also showed that Lane had prior convictions for drug distribution and a history of violating probation and missing court dates.

Lane is scheduled to return to court for a pretrial hearing on May 3.
