FALL RIVER - An investigation is underway after friends and family of a Fall River man say he was shot and killed by police early Monday morning in the city.

FOX 25 Boston reports the incident started just after 12 a.m. at the intersection of Airport Road and Riggenbach Road. Police have not yet released any information, but family members and friends say a police officer fatally shot the 19-year-old man at that location.

Shortly after the shooting, those close to the reported victim said several of them were involved in an altercation at Charlton Memorial Hospital and were arrested.

Fall River Police have not commented on the alleged incidents.
