A Fall River mother pleaded guilty Thursday in Fall River district court to charges she encouraged her teenage daughter to beat up a young girl during a fight that was recorded and posted on You Tube. Prosecutors requested that 34 year old Melissa Silvia serve 6 months of a one year jail sentence with the remaining six months suspended for 2 years but Judge Robert Welsh the 3rd, instead placed Silvia on probation for a year. The judge saw the video during a brief recess and told Silvia she should have broken up the fight. Silvia could spend up to 2 years in jail if she violates her probation.
