A Fall River man received a four to six year prison sentence on Wednesday following his conviction on larceny and robbery charges.

Gregg Miliote, Director of Communications for the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, says that 51-year-old Charles Duclos pleaded guilty on Monday to four indictments charging him with larceny from a person, larceny from a person over 65, armed robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon.

The first incident took place on March 20, 2015 when Duclos admitted to his cousin that he pawned his cousin's Stratocaster guitar at Fall River Pawnbrokers.

Duclos told his cousin he could get it back for $60, which his cousin gave him.

He then fled with the money when his cousin drove him to the pawn shop.

The second incident took place July 10, 2015 when Duclos stole the wallet from the purse of a woman who gave him a ride to Pleasant St. in Fall River after they both visited her brother-in-law at Charlton Memorial Hospital.

The victim was out on bail from that incident when, on July 26, 2015 witnesses saw him stealing sympathy cards from a funeral home in Fall River.

The sympathy cards, which were intended for an elderly widow and contained $250, were recovered.

The fourth incident took place on August 17, 2015 when Duclas emtered Carmen Fashions Bridal Boutique on Pleasant St. rmed with a knife and claiming he had a gun while he demanded money from the register.

Duclas then smashed a picture frame and put the knife to the neck of a female employee working the cash register before fleeing with the cash.

Miliote says Duclas was tracked down by Fall River Police and admitted to the robbery telling police he used the money to buy heroin.

"The defendant is a career criminal, who at age 51 is unlikely to change his behavior," said District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III "I would have preferred our recommendation be adopted based on the facts of the case and his lengthy criminal record. But at least he will be off the street for up to six years.”
