A Fall River man has been arrested following a high-speed police chase that reached speeds of 90 miles per hour through seven towns.

The chase ended on Interstate 195 in Westport just after 8 p.m. Tuesday when police used tire deflation devices to stop the vehicle driven by 27-year-old Michael Thompson.

The Herald News reports that the chase started in Berkley when an officer tried to pull over the car for driving erratically and too fast. The chase went through Taunton, Lakeville, Freetown, New Bedford and Dartmouth before ending in Westport.

Thompson was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon for driving the vehicle at police, refusing to stop for a police officer, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license and texting while driving. (AP)
