There will be no restructuring of Fairhaven Town Government, at least not yet.

Town Meeting on Saturday delayed votes on suggestions made by the Mass. Dept. of Revenue, and instead voted to form a Government Study Committee.

One of the recommendations would have done away with the position of Executive Secretary in favor of a Town Administrator.  The Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Charlie Murphy, was eager to support the change.

Voter Richard Griffiths favors more study of the issue....

The D-O-R is also suggesting that the size of the town's Finace Committee be cut in half, and that the positions of Tax Collector and Treasurer be combined.
